Apple has apparently been deliberating over Hysteria Project for quite some time, but this highly innovative live-action game is now - finally - available for download.
The game uses cinematic, live-action sequences, strung together in a similar way to the lazer disk games of the 80s such as Space Ace and Dragon's Lair, triggered by fast decisions the user is prompted to make along with onscreen quick time events. It's apparently going to be an episodic game, with this first part serving as something of an introduction to the unique gaming concept.
Hysteria Project was put together by ex-Vivendi Games Mobile employees after it shut down its mobile division. The team (which worked on iPhone hits like Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D) got together to form their own development studio, Bulkypix, with Hysteria Project as its first game. The delay in its release has only heightened the tension, of course,
and we have to admit that the iPhone Otaku team are all desperate to check this on out.
Have a look at the gameplay video below, then hit the App Store button to go get hysterical about Hysteria Project.
