Perhaps by today's standards Flashback doesn't look all that spectacular, but in 1992 the level of detail in the game's animation was utterly astonishing. And it played like a dream, too, as you took on the role of Conrad B. Hart as he battled against an alien conspiracy to destroy the Earth and his own amnesia. We won't go into plot details here, as that'd spoil one of Flashback's best features, but we can only hope the conversion is an accurate one.
The iPhone adaptation of Flashback comes from APp Store newcomer Manomio, and although we're not sure whether this is an official conversion (we rather suspect Flashback falls into the abandonware category) it certainly looks the part. Manomio also promises more retro games for the iPhone, and judging by the classic game it chose to kick things off with, we can hope for some exciting nostalgic beauties coming our way before long.
Check out what the developer has to say, and take a look at the teaser video before teleporting over to the App Store for a Flashback:
Set in the year 2142, you assume the role of Conrad B. Hart, an agent for the Galaxia Bureau of Investigation, and attempt to piece together your erased memory in order to save the world that is under threat of destruction by aliens. As a precaution, you saved your memory in a holocube and use this as an aid during your quest for identity. Can you complete the 7 levels in this classic platformer to destroy the aliens and save the world? Take up the challenge and download now!
